The only thing I would like change in that would be, women are capable of exhibiting cruelty in very extreme cases.

I bet women would love to think so, but the perception of extreme cases varies diversely.

I was once interested in a girl who would quite often get angry if I did not accord her utmost attention when with her & she always said that she would get angry at me because my behavior was extremely annoying .

Thank goodness I had a "Short Compassion Span"

Mate, girls don't follow the same simple algorithm that guys do. Thats why they can be very unpredictable. Don't always expect straight behavior from them. In fact, I'll suggest don't expect anything from girls. When you expect you'll be left longing and hurt.

As I said before, I can't objectively conclude that - Women rarely initiate wars (save for a certain Indira Gandhi) or indulge in mass murders or genocides, Oh no sir, they are more subtle than that .

On the other hand, I don't think Buddha, Mahavira, Jesus Christ, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela belonged to the fairer sex either.




Maybe we can observe this - Men are more cruel & kinder than women in social sense (mass movements, revolutions, war etc). Women seem to be more cruel & kinder than men in personal sense or limited social sense (Eg: Personal relationships).

Any tweaking to be done?

I disagree. The reason women suffer less heart problems & generally live longer than their spouses (men in general) is because they DO NOT suffer silently, they generally let it out of their actions, social politics, mouths, hands, eyes & occasionally legs too

No.

I was merely stating a saying which popped in my mind regarding all this talk.

Infact my earlier post stated that both men & women are equally capable of exhibiting degress of kindness and cruelty.
What you posted made sense. The only thing I would like change in that would be, women are capable of exhibiting cruelty in very extreme cases.

And from what I have read, it is moreover always justified..I know this is debatable but it is something that I have read and cannot conclusively say.

If the crewely of a good natured man and a goood natured woman is compared, then yes the woman tends to be more cruel. cause she is the weaker sex and needs to resort to manupulation to get her end.

The root of cruelty can be traced to insensitivity. So whenever a person displays insensitivity towards other person's feelings, he/she can be said to be displaying cruelty in one form.

The myth is that women are more emotional, sensitive and soft as compared to men. But the reality is something else. Men are only used to or trained to not display their emotions openly whereas women do it very easily. It doesn't necessarily make women more emotional and sensitive than men.

A few days ago, me and my friend were talking about people whom we knew were into a love relationship. We came to a common observation that in so many cases, the girl got married to another guy, and after that completely got over this relationship they had and now lives happily in her new married life. Where as the guy couldn't get out of it. In some cases it has been 7-8 years that the guy hasn't been able to come out of it. This displays certain amount of insensitivity and cruelty.

I remember reading a few months ago in a magazine about an experiment they had conducted in the US military. People were asked to do more and more cruel things. After a certain point it was impossible for men to do the things however the women continued the things and progressed further.

These things make us wonder that should we stick on to the myth that we've been holding all these days, or should we embrace the truth?

The reply you proposed to counter the myth is intself a MYTH....

I feel that there all the characters,habits that you attribute to a particular sex can never and should never be applied on individual basis......An individual's character,habits are determined by the environment that he/she lives in and the upbringing and the circumstances...

STEREOTYPING men's and women's virtues AND CATEGORISING certain attributes as that of womens' and mens' has limits...

as for the story....
It is common trend nowadays for INDIAN MEN to cry hoarse and complain that women today dont take their LOVE LIFES seriously and are spoilt...

But the fact is that BREAKUP in relationships are common nowadays and there are as much MEN as there are women of the type you mentioned here..

I know of a personal story too..My sisters' friends loved each other for a period of time..but the boy felt otherwise about marrying each other...He now talks to her as if she were another person.....but the girl suffers silently...

You cannot generalise.
Stereotyping based on a couple of incidents or surveys is not a very sensible exercise !
Anywyz, as far as the topic is concerned both men & women are equally capable of cruelty and kindness. There is no 'more' or no 'less' in this.
It depends on person to person, human to human..for the degress of kindness and cruelty he/she exhibits.

Technically speaking I can't make a conclusion that the fairer sex is also the crueler sex. Personally speaking I have always observed that the fairer sex has been the crueler sex & worse does not even recognize the cruelty.

The topic starter must know that women are said to be more emotionally *Intelligent* than men. So when they said emotionally *Intelligent* they did not, repeat DID NOT mean *more* emotional, just more emotionally ***INTELLIGENT*** - Get my drift???
